Serotine Bat with repaired wing

See the good work that Dorothy has done!

The bat should soon be ready to fly again.

What a bright eyed-bushy tailed little 'gentleman' - well maybe forget the bushy-tailed bit!
This hungry juvenile monster was a great hit with the children of the play scheme yesterday, devouring headless meal worms at a ferocious rate. He'll be too fat to fly soon regardless of his healing arms!!

I am afraid I had very bad news today, after noticing a lump on "Berties" arm on Tuesday where the splint, I kept an eye on it and on wednesday it had grown bigger. I rang up the vet yesterday who had a look and said it looked like he might have an infection, he arranged an appointment for this morning to operate and take the splint out. Unfortunately the wing had not healed, so sadly it was a case of Bertie either being put to sleep or never being able to fly and being completely reliant on myself till the end of his life, as he was only a pup I did not think this was any kind of life for him and asked the vet to put him to sleep. It's a sad ending this time, but I suppose you can't have a happy ending every time. Dot
